A university academic has been arrested after a teenage girl died within hours of being taken ill at a party which left three others in hospital.

Police are investigating whether Isobel Clara Reilly, of Acton, West London, died after taking drugs at the house party. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "This is a line of inquiry. We await the results of the post mortem examination." The 15-year-old's death is being treated as "unexplained".

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and child abandonment and bailed to return on a date in June. He is believed to be Brian Dodgeon, a research fellow at the University of London's Institute of Education.

Police said the 15-year-old became unwell at a house in Barlby Road, north Kensington. She was taken to hospital but died later.

A 14-year-old girl, believed to be Mr Dodgeon's daughter, and two boys, both aged 14, were also taken to hospital as a precaution and remain in hospital under observation.
