Twelve men were arrested after a mass brawl at a Butlins holiday park. Trouble flared after a group of revellers was thrown out of a nightclub on the site at Bognor Regis, West Sussex, above.

Six people, including four staff, were taken to hospital, some with face and chest injuries, after the incident at 12.20am on Saturday. No other guests are understood to have been involved.

Chief Inspector Jane Derrick, of Sussex Police, said: "We believe a fight broke out after a group of people, who were at the resort together, were ejected from a nightclub on the site."

The 12 men arrested are aged between 25 and 37 and all understood to be from Gravesend, Kent. They were held on suspicion of offences including violent disorder and assault causing grievous bodily harm. All were bailed until later this month.

A spokesman for Butlins said one staff member, in his 50s, had been kept in hospital as a precaution. He said: "There was an altercation among a group of people who were staying. Luckily, at that point, most of the guests were tucked up in bed. Security intervened to calm things down and a number of them were attacked." PA
