A trainee computer programmer whose life and career were ruined when his motorcycle collided with a car, stands to receive pounds 7.26m in a structured damages settlement approved by a High Court judge.
Gregory Herring, 33, of Bagshot, Surrey, suffered severe head injuries in the accident at Littlewick Green, Berkshire, in 1984. He is now depressed and has an impaired IQ. The court was told the pounds 1.2m settlement he was due to receive had been put into a scheme that would yield pounds 7.26m if he reached his full life expectancy. The car driver admitted liability.
