Exeter magistrates dismissed a complaint that the bells of Down St Mary parish church in Devon caused a nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act. George Calvert, 65, who claimed that the Rev Simon Beveridge caused the bells to be rung excessively over an 18-month period, was ordered to pay pounds 250 costs.
