'Cheater' car outside Harrods is (probably) a publicity stunt
Photos of spray-painted vehicle went viral but may be publicity stunt for American TV show

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The white Range Rover Revere was spotted outside in Knightsbridge and photographs of its unusual paintwork quickly filled social media.
The words ‘CHEATER’, ‘IT’S OVER’ and ‘HOPE SHE WAS WORTH IT’ were daubed in red paint over the body of the vehicle.
The car was seen making its way through Belgravia in the early hours before a man in a white T-shirt parked it outside the department store and walked off.
However, it seems likely that the paint job is actually a publicity stunt for a new television show.
Exactly the same stunt was pulled in downtown New York in March last year and the photographs went viral on social media.
The images showed the same white Range Rover with words painted in red being towed through the Big Apple on the back of a truck.
In December 2014, the TV channel Bravo pulled a very similar trick by towing a selection of graffitied Porche 911 cars around Manhattan to promote their scripted show ‘Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce’.
It is unclear whether the channel is involved in the new stunt although Frank PR founder Andrew Bloch appeared to confirm the link on Twitter.
In China, daubing the vehicle of a cheating partner is not usual: in January a man’s car was sprayed with the word ‘mistress’ on all four sides by his furious wife.
