A charity that raised more than pounds 200,000 a year for disabled children spent most of it on wages and travel expenses, the Charity Commission said. Of pounds 223,000 raised, only pounds 7,000 went to children.
The commission has now ordered the Welsh Heart and Handicapped Children's Society - set up in 1991 - to be struck off the charities register. Its investigation uncovered evidence of 'inefficient administration and lack of prudent financial management'. There was no evidence of fraud.
