THE censorship of children's books will be under discussion at a public meeting at Kensington Town Hall, west London, at 7.30pm tonight.
Arranged by International PEN, an association of writers, and sponsored by the Independent, the debate will be led by four speakers.
The panel comprises Dr Richard Hoggart, the sociologist; Gina Pollinger, an agent for writers; Janet Boateng, an activist for women's, children's and ethnic rights; Lynne Reid Banks, the children's writer; and Rosemary Stones, an editorial director at Penguin.
Tickets are available at the door.
