Cadet instructors swept to death

TWO ARMY cadet instructors were swept to their deaths yesterday while trying to negotiate an 80ft gorge during a training exercise, near Pateley Bridge, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire.

They were Michael Veal, 36, a civil servant and Army Cadet Force captain, and Jeremy Lander, 27, a telephone engineer and sergeant, both of Cambridgeshire.
