At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. It is the 18th annual celebration where meat lovers are encouraged to visit their local butcher and indulge in gourmet pork treats.
A butchers in Aldershot has embraced the occasion and created what they claim is the world’s most expensive sausage.
A single sausage, which contains Mangalitsa pork, Stilton cheese, vintage 1947 port, truffles and cep mushrooms, will set you back £37 – making it 100 times more expensive than the average British sausage.
"The single bottle of port is £450, the Stilton was £250, the pork works out at £25 per kilo, the truffles at £70 and the cep mushrooms at about £50." The sausage would cost around £700 per kilo.
British Sausage Week runs from 2-8 November.
