BNP chiefs in 'racial attack'

Ablack man out shopping with his white girlfriend was struck in the face with glass in a racial attack involving two leading members of the British National Party in Bethnal Green, east London, Southwark Crown Court was told yesterday.

Richard Edmonds, 50, of Welling, south-east London, the party's national activities organiser, and John Morse, 43, of Winchester, the editor of its newspaper, deny causing violent disorder last September. Simon Biggs, 28, of Penge, and Paul Steele, of Poplar, both east London, also deny violent disorder. Biggs denied wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The trial continues.
