Bank staff to strike over pay

Staff at Barclays Bank are to stage a 24-hour strike today in protest at a 2.75 per cent pay offer.

Banking unions predict widespread disruption of high street branches anddifficulties with the bank's computer system, but a management spokesman said every effort would be made to ensure normal service.
