A 43-year-old Dublin businessman at the centre of the case which led to a 14-year-old girl being barred from travelling to Britain for an abortion in February 1992, prompting a constitutional referendum, yesterday admitted unlawful carnal knowledge and indecent assault.
The Irish Supreme Court had rejected attempts to stop the trial after the man's lawyers said publicity about the case had prejudiced his chances of a fair trial.
