A landscape gardener who toured the country stealing rare
prints from library books was jailed for four years at Southwark Crown Court, London. Joseph Bellwood, 43, of Swillington, Leeds, admitted stealing plates worth pounds 120,000 and selling them for pounds 17,000. The British Library was a "substantial loser", said prosecutor Martin Hicks; Bellwood also raided the Birmingham Central, Glasgow's Mitchell Library and the Leeds Central.
