Owls swoop to beat depleted Rangers
Sheffield Wednesday all but secured their Championship safety, beating 10-man QPR 3-0 at Hillsborough to damage the visitors’ promotion prospects. Yeovil held in-form Wigan 3-3 at the DW with five goals in the final eight minutes, while Charlton beat Bournemouth 1-0.
England lose again in T20 warm-up
England were again well beaten in their latest warm-up match for the World Twenty20, Eoin Morgan’s side going down by seven wickets to West Indies in Fatullah. Morgan top-scored (43) as England made 131 for 7, a total West Indies overhauled inside 17 overs.
Warburton sits out tour of South Africa
Wales captain Sam Warburton has been ruled out of the summer tour to South Africa after dislocating his shoulder against Scotland last weekend. Leigh Halfpenny is also a doubt for the excursion with his own shoulder complaint. MORE

Sir Bradley Wiggins came third in the race-ending time trial as Alberto Contador won the Tirreno-Adriatico yesterday. Contador finished two minutes and five seconds ahead overall of Nairo Quintana and Roman Kreuziger in Italy.

Marc Marquez admits he will begin the defence of his MotoGP title this weekend still feeling the effects of a broken leg. “I don’t expect to be 100 per cent,” the Spaniard said ahead of Sunday’s season opener in Qatar. “But I will try my hardest.”
Afghanistan record first-ever T20 win
Afghanistan recorded their first World Twenty20 victory, beating Hong Kong by seven wickets with their captain Mohammad Shahzad hitting 68. Also in Group A, hosts Bangladesh beat Nepal by eight wickets to remain on course to qualify.
Mercedes chief: We must win title
The chief of Mercedes Motorsport believes the team would be failures were they not to win the world title this year. “We have a bit of a margin,” Toto Wolff said. “Losing that would be something I’d consider as a failure.”
