Thompson retires as Camelot splits

Dianne Thompson is retiring as the chief executive of Camelot after 14 years. The operator of the National Lottery is restructuring into “two separate entities”, with UK managing director Andy Duncan as chief executive of the UK arm and finance boss Nigel Railton leading the global business.

Siemens ready to bid for Alstom

The German engineering company Siemens is ready to make an offer to France’s Alstom if it is given four weeks to examine its books and draw up a plan to rival a move by General Electric. Siemens said it had sent a letter to the French engineer after its boards decided to make an offer.

BP raises dividend for second time

BP has raised its dividend for the second time in six months after posting first-quarter profits of $3.53bn (£2.1bn). This was up on the previous quarter but down from $16.9bn a year ago, when figures were boosted by the $12.5bn sale of its share in Russian joint venture TNK-BP.

Suri named as new boss of Nokia

Nokia has named Rajeev Suri, the man who led a turnaround at its telecoms network business, as its new chief executive to replace the Microsoft-bound Stephen Elop. The Finnish firm completed the €5.6bn (£4.6bn) deal to sell its mobile handset business to Microsoft on Friday.
