Sony BRAVIA OLED TV – ultimate picture quality with the AG8 and AG9
For dazzling picture and real attention to detail, you need an OLED TV. And since it's also a smart TV, there's plenty of extra functionality built in
How will you choose your next TV? You’ll want truly outstanding picture quality, of course. That means the super-high 4K or UHD resolution for a start. For better images still, HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a must. That’s where dark shadows and bright skies are richly detailed at the same time.
For ultimate picture quality you need an OLED TV, which, because each pixel is individually illuminated, has dazzling contrast levels. The latest screens from Sony, the BRAVIA AG8 and BRAVIA AG9 OLED TVs, tick all the above boxes.
Good looks, great sound
But there are other factors to consider, too, such as the TV’s design. After all, it still needs to look good, even when it’s off. The Sony screens are very striking looking, not least thanks to their exceptionally thin profile. And unlike rival TVs, there are no visible speakers taking up space on the front. That’s because Sony’s Acoustic Surface technology actually vibrates the screen itself to produce the audio. It works brilliantly.
There’s more. These are smart TVs, which can connect to the internet, for instance, and have apps which add extra functionality to the screens. These apps include Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and more. In fact, the apps will even look familiar to Android phone users, thanks to Sony using Android TV as its operating system.
Enhanced detail
More importantly, though, these televisions are smart because they have highly advanced processors built in, which are designed to significantly improve the picture, whether that’s smoothing movement while you’re watching sport or enhancing detail in every situation.
On the AG9, it’s the X1 Ultimate, and on the AG8, the X1 Extreme. Both control the pixels on the screen to deliver the best, most realistic picture. Additionally, in the case of the AG9, the processor can detect hundreds of objects within a picture and adjust the level of detail and even the colours for each one. The AG9 also has Pixel Contrast Booster technology, which maximises contrast levels further. Oh, and Currys even includes free delivery and installation with the AG9.
On both the AG8 and AG9, there are also a series of noise reduction techniques to increase sharpness and a powerful upscaler, so when the original content you’re watching is lower-quality, the TV makes it look close to 4K resolution.
The AG8 and AG9 are both available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, and the AG9 additionally has a 77-inch option, so you can choose what’s right for your home. All are available to buy credit-free, with the cost spread over monthly payments.
