THE AVERAGE sales figure for the Independent on Sunday in May was 340,548 , according to the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations. This is an increase of 6,306 copies - or 4.9 per cent - on the same period last year. Sales of the daily Independent for May were 296,397, an increase of 7.1 per cent, year-on-year.

Over the same period, sales of the Observer fell by 5.8 per cent and those of the Guardian by 1.1 per cent.
