DRUGS investigators believe they have broken a smuggling ring worth millions of pounds.

A shipment of 40kg of heroin, worth pounds 7.5m, was recovered in a van which tried to smash through a cordon at at Thurrock Services on the M25, Essex. Customs officials and armed police were waiting as two men arrived for a rendezvous with a Hungarian-registered truck. Two Turkish men today appear in court charged with importation; another Turk and three Hungarians are being questioned.
