A serving police officer has been arrested in connection with multi-million profits believed to have been accrued by a convicted drugs trafficker, police disclosed yesterday.
The officer, from the Greater Manchester force, was suspended from duty after his arrest following raids on Merseyside on 31 July. He was one of six people rounded up by officers trying to trace the estimated pounds 180m fortune of international drugs baron Curtis Warren, who is currently serving 12 years in a Dutch jail for conspiracy to supply drugs. The officer and five others taken into custody were released on police bail until November pending further inquiries.
