Justin Timberlake has given one eight-year-old autistic boy a birthday to remember after serenading him during a gig.

The “Mirrors” singer encouraged 25,000 fans to join him in a rendition of “Happy Birthday” for Julian Delan earlier this week.

Delan’s father, Peter, took to Facebook to thank Timberlake for the gesture. “This is a moment Julian will never forget!” he wrote. “Thanks for gifts sent down to him. #bestnightever.”

His mother Marika wrote a blog post explaining how before the show, she was nervous about how other concert-goers would react to her son’s “obsessions, his volume, his repetitiveness, his clumsiness”.

She told how Julian had been “knocking into the chairs and dancing and singing and yelling, ‘It’s my birthday! This is my present! This is my present! I love you JT!” before everyone started celebrating with him.

It is believed the pop star was made aware of Julian’s birthday by a group of people sitting in front of the Delans.

“I swear the light in his eyes when this world of people began to sing was so bright it must have been what got my eyes so unexpectedly teary,” said Marika.

Last night, Timberlake performed a headline set at V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex to a thrilled crowd of thousands. Tonight, he plays in Staffordshire’s Weston Park while The Killers take to the stage in Essex.
