Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There’s a rather short answer to this question: No.

Sadly for Miley Cyrus, she was taken into medical care after having an allergic reaction to some medication she was taking and was forced to cancel her concert in Kansas City, Missouri as a result.

“Kansas I promise I’m as [heartbroken emoticon] as you are. I wanted so badly 2 b there 2night [sad cat crying emoticon]. Not being with yall[sic] makes me feel sh**tier than I already do [hospital masked emoticon].”

She also posted the above picture of herself and “Mr Octopussy”, a plastic toy who she claims to be among the practitioners in charge of her recovery.

Others, however – including ourselves – do appear to be suffering from the ill effects of chronic Miley fame fatigue.

Symptoms include the inability to look at a computer screen without seeing repeat images of her face, the loss of the use of normal language in favour of emoticons and long and sustained subjection to headlines featuring the word “twerk”.

As of yet, there appears no cure. Though those with severe adversities are advised to lock themselves in a small timber hut in the Tibetan mountains far away from Western society, which has become almost entirely saturated with high-legged leotards, crotch-thrusts and wrecking balls.

It’s genuinely the only way to escape.
