Justin Bieber returned to the stage after a three-year hiatus from making new music on Sunday night during the 32 annual MTV Video Music Awards.
The 21-year-old performed the overwhelmingly popular Jack U collaboration "Where Are U Now" and a new single "What Do You Mean."
After he flew above the stage like a young Peter Pan wearing a trucker hat, Bieber gave a little spoken-word monologue, which seemed to reference his struggle of bad PR, arrests and alleged drug abuse.
"Life is a journey sometimes a battle full of the unexpected. Sometimes we focus on the destination and forget to focus on the journey,” he said, before breaking into tears.
