From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Struggling which calendar to chose as 2016 approaches?

Look no further, as perhaps one filled entirely with the Russian president Vladimir Putin in various poses will take your fancy.

Twelve different Putins are shown in the calendar, the variety of photos range from the Russian leader undertaking in some exercise, fishing, smelling flowers and cuddling a dog.

According to BBC News the calendar, reportedly produced by a Russian magazine and available to buy in Russia, also features quotes from the longstanding president to accompany the portraits.

Alongside March’s spread, the quote reads: “I like all Russian women. I think Russian women are the most talented and the most beautiful.”

Whereas October’s image which shows Putin wearing a military cap says: “No one will succeed in gaining military superiority over Russia.”

Putin has alternated between serving as the President and Prime minister of Russia since 1999.

A recent theory emerged that the eternally youthful looking 63-year-old may actually be immortal.

The conspiracy theory showed an image of Putin from 2015 alongside two men apparently pictured in 1920 and 1941, and asked visitors to compare the man in the image.
