Morgan, who was a major SNL cast member between 1996 and 2003, will return on October 17th, which will be the 30 Rock star’s first major performance since he was critically injured in a car accident last June.
The actor, 46, suffered broken ribs, a broken nose, and a broken leg when a Walmart lorry hit a limo carrying Morgan and several friends on the way back from a stand-up gig.
His longtime friend and colleague, James McNair, was killed in the accident and Morgan was so severely injured that he was forced into a medically-induced coma to help doctors combat his traumatic brain injuries. Six months later, he was still struggling to walk.
Truck driver Kevin Roper was reportedly working on his thirteenth hour of a maximum fourteen hour shift driving for the US supermarket chain when he collided with Morgan’s chauffeured Mercedes limousine.
He was found to be over the speed limit and charged with death by auto, and questions were raised whether he was capable of rational judgement after working long, strenuous hours.
Morgan confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he was 'stoked' to be returning to his old stomping ground:
SNL also announced that Miley Cyrus and Amy Schumer are scheduled to host episodes of the show in October.
Cyrus will be hosting for the third time, while this will be Schumer's first time as host.
