Tim Healy is recovering in the UK after being airlifted from Spain following an illness.

The Benidorm actor fell ill last month during filming. His condition has now stabilised and he was flown back to the UK via air ambulance and is now recovering and resting.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Tim is feeling much better after his spell in hospital and all the Benidorm cast and crew wish him a healthy recovery in his own time.

“Filming schedules have been adjusted to accommodate Tim’s absence on screen, the show is currently mid way through filming the new series which will air in 2017.”

The 64-year-old plays the cross-dressing character Les/Lesley in the hit show. He’s also known for playing Dennis Patterson in the 1980s comedy Auf Wiedersehen Pet and more recently Gastric in Still Open All Hours opposite Sir David Jason.

Healy is married to Joan Anderson. He has has two sons with his ex-wife Denise Welch - one of whom is Matt Healy, the lead singer of The 1975.
