Susan Sarandon has suggested she could consider a foray into the world of directing pornography because many adult films are “brutal” and don’t focus on female pleasure.
The actress, 69, was commenting on how female directors make sex scenes more interesting when she made a “slightly tongue-in-cheek” suggestion that she could consider offering her input to adult films after retiring from acting, according to The Times.
“I have threatened in my eighties to direct porn,” she said. “I haven’t watched enough to know what the problems are. Most pornography is brutal and doesn’t look pleasurable from a female point of view. So I’ve been saying that when I no longer want to act, I want to do that.”
Sarandon was speaking at Cannes Film Festival where she appeared on the red carpet on the opening day and at the Variety and Kering's Women in Motion talk, alongside her former Thelma and Louise co-star Geena Davis.
Sarandon spoke forthrightly about female sexuality earlier this year after she was criticised by Piers Morgan for having too much cleavage on show.
Sarandon was abused by trolls for her sartorial choice and then targeted by Morgan, who criticised the low-cut outfit as “tacky” and “inappropriate”.
She responded by posting a picture of herself in a bra and dedicating the tweet to the UK talk show host and Daily Mail columnist, much to the mirth of her fans.
