From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

James Corden has driven the likes of Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber around in his car for The Late Late Show in recent months, and while his talented guests have made the presenter laugh, none of them managed to make him cry.

But when Stevie Wonder joined Corden in his car for the show's Carpool Karaoke feature, he managed to reduce the British presenter to tears.

Corden said his wife Julia may not believe that he was in the car with Wonder, and asked the Superstition singer if they could call her to prove it while they drove around the streets of LA.

When the pair phoned Corden's wife, Wonder serenaded her with the words, "I just called to say James loves you.”

Wonder only sang a few lines of the hit down the phone, but it was enough to see the presenter become overcome with emotion and start rubbing his eyes.

“Oh my God you have just won me so many brownie points with my wife," Corden tells Wonder as he hangs up the phone.

The pair sang along to a host of Wonder’s hits as they drove to Corden's work, giving the legendary singer the chance to show off his accomplished British accent.
