From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

According to TMZ, LaBeouf was seen running down the street and crossing the road despite a ‘do not walk’ sign – which is against the law in the US and several other countries.
In a video posted to the site, the 29-year-old is seen in handcuffs as police put him in the back of a patrol car.
Witnesses told the site that he was acting ‘bizarrely’, ignoring police warnings, and had been turned away from a bar in the popular 6th Street area earlier in the evening.
He was booked into Travis County Jail, but later released. The actor was in the city to attend the Austin City Limits music festival.
LaBeouf has had several run-ins with the law recently due to his behaviour. Last year he head-butted someone in a bar in East London, while a fight with his girlfriend Mia Goth was captured on camera and made headlines.
The Independent has contacted LaBeouf for comment.
