The Prince of Wales opens the Salford Foyer, Salford, Greater Manchester; as President, the Prince's Trust, attends the Prince's Trust conference "Towards the Millennium" at the Jarvis Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester; and visits the Manchester Velodrome, The National Cycling Centre, Clayton, Manchester. The Princess Royal, President, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, visits Rhymney Valley Carers Centre, Caerphilly, Mid Glamorgan; and as President of the Patrons, Crime Concern, launches the Cardiff Safer Cities Project at Cardiff Castle and visits Willows High School, Tremorfa, Cardiff. The Duke of Kent, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, visits 1st Battalion, Somme Barracks, Catterick, North Yorkshire.
