The Queen holds an Investiture at Buckingham Palace. The Princess Royal, Patron, Canal Museum Trust, visits the exhibition "Pomp and Pleasure" and views the restored Tug Boat Bantam IV at the London Canal Museum, London N1; as Patron, the National Autistic Society, officially opens the new services at Northway School, London NW7; as Patron, the British Nutrition Foundation, attends the farewell lunch for Dr Elsie Widdowson and the British Nutrition Foundation Prize Awards at the Royal College of Physicians, London NW1; and attends the Farmers Club Annual Dinner and Dance at the Hilton Hotel, London W1. The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, Order of St John, holds a reception and investiture of Knights and Dames of the Order of St John, at St James's Palace. The Duchess of Gloucester attends a luncheon to mark the 21st Anniversary of Research into Ageing at the Dorchester Hotel, London W1; and as Patron, Nadfas (National Association of Decorative and Find Arts Societies) attends a Private View of the Exhibition "Mysteries of Ancient China" at the British Museum, London WC1. The Duke of Kent, Colonel-in-Chief, attends a farewell lunch for the Regimental Secretary, at the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, London EC3. Princess Alexandra visits the Headquarters of the Police Federation of England and Wales, Surbiton, Surrey. Princess Michael of Kent attends a Charity Gala Performance of Cats at the New London Theatre, London WC2.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Welsh Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Grenadier Guards.
