From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rihanna isn't known for putting up with the media rumour mill, and now she's reacted to the latest speculation surrounding her with a strongly worded post on Instagram.

On Friday she was the focus of the latest frenzy after she was photographed dancing with Travi$ Scott at New York Fashion Week, which many have taken to imply the pair are an item.

In response, Rihanna posted this strong response: “Omg why are you still single? - cos I’m a c***.”

The singer has a history of slapping down unverified articles about her.

In April, she denied unsubstantiated accusations she had snorted cocaine when a Vine, which was quickly deleted, emerged of her at a music festival with a biting post on her Instagram account.

Rihanna was named the best-selling digital sales artist of all time this summer after she became the first artist with more than 100 million downloaded and streamed singles since she released her first single ‘Pon de Replay’ in 2005.

Hours after winning the accolade Rihanna released the video for her latest single B**** Better Have My Money, which divided her fans due to its highly graphic content.
