Richard Dreyfuss has condemned Donald Trump, calling him an “intemperate, mean-spirited, lying bully”.

The 68-year-old actor, who is best known for his role in Jaws, argued that if someone would not grant the Republican presidential candidate permission to marry their daughter then they should not allow him to run the country.

“If a man like that asked you for permission to marry your daughter, what would your answer be? If it’s no, I think it’s obvious we shouldn’t give him the most powerful office on the face of the earth,” he told The Guardian.

This is not the first time Dreyfuss has rebuked Mr Trump. In since deleted tweets written in May, he called the celebrities who have come out in support of Mr Trump “w****s”.

“The saddest people aren’t Donald Trump’s supporters. They’re really struggling. It’s Donald Trump’s celebrity supporters who are w****s,” he wrote. “I get the thing about ‘off the cuff speaking.’ I get it! But when that speaking is dedicated to hurting Latino Americans, you’re a racist.”

A representative for Mr Trump did not immediately respond to request for comment.
