Your support makes all the difference.Red Hot Chili Peppers have been forced to cancel a second concert because front man Anthony Kiedis has been admitted to hospital for intestinal flu.
The band were forced to cancel their first gig on Saturday at Irvine in California after the 53-year-old singer complained of intense stomach pain and was hospitalised.
The band have now cancelled a second performance at California’s iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank on May 17.
“Due to Anthony Kiedis' hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th,” read a statement released by the band.
“They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon”.
The band’s bassist flea announced the initial gig was cancelled to concert-goers on stage.
“We are devastated about it,” he said. “We're really sad. We love you so much. We live to rock... But unfortunately there's a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it”.
The band’s drummer Chad Smith has wished Kiedis a “speedy recovery”.
“NO one's more disappointed than us that we couldn't perform tonight,” he wrote on Twitter. “Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.”
Messages of support for Kiedis have flooded in on social media.
"I hate when you see a name like Anthony Kiedis trending & your 1st thought is, 'Oh no, please be alive...' Hope he's OK," wrote one Twitter user.
"Keep Anthony Kiedis in your players, he left Weenie Roast to hospital," added another.
