She will be appearing on TV shows over Christmas, including Heartbeat and The Royal Variety Show. Charlotte lives with her parents in Llandaff, Wales.

Do you ever get stage fright? Jean Williams, Edinburgh

No, never. I get very, very excited before a big concert but I don't actually get nervous. I was slightly nervous when I met President Clinton, but more excited and baffled really. He just said to me: "I believe you are singing my favourite song, 'Amazing Grace'." Meeting the Pope was very exciting. I got nervous because he's the Pope. He's not like a normal person because he's holy. The Queen was really really lovely, although Prince Philip is my favourite royal. He seems to be the most down to earth of them all, and the nicest. I met him at the opening of the Welsh Assembly and he just chatted to me. But most of the time it is just a blur, and I can't really remember what happens.

Do you ever get tired of singing "Pie Jesu"? D B Woods, London E11

Yes, I do, but in a nice way. I think it's a beautiful song and I appreciate what it has done for me.

Do you worry that you will wear your voice out from singing too much at an early age? A Havers, Bedfordshire

No. I have a great vocal coach called Louise Ryan who teaches me well, and I'm careful never to stretch my voice. If I perform on TV I have one rehearsal and I rarely do concerts, so there's no danger of over-doing it.

Do you ever wish you could have a normal teenager's life? Pam Lexton, London N3

Believe it or not, I do have a normal life when I'm at home and some wonderful experiences when I'm away. As I see it, I really do have the best of both worlds.

Do you have a boyfriend? Alan Mills, Gillingham, Dorset

No, I'm too young for boys yet and I go to a girls school. I do get lots of fan mail though. I get about 12 pieces of mail a week sent to my house. Most of it is sent to Sony, although a lot of it is sent to my school. I don't know how it gets there as people just put: "Charlotte Church, Cardiff, Voice of an Angel." Most of the letters are religious letters. I always try to read them all.

When did you discover that you had an exceptional singing voice? Sandy Jones, London SE12

My Auntie Caroline is a cabaret singer, and she told my Mum that I had a good voice. I suppose it was more of a gradual process though. I don't think of myself as having a good voice. When I was three I always liked singing and dancing, but I lost interest when I was six. It came back to me when I was eight, though.

What was it like meeting Robbie Williams? Samuel Harwich, by e-mail

He was really lovely. We were both rehearsing for Prince Charles's 50th Birthday. I was too shy to ask him for his autograph, but he came up to me and said: "Hi, I'm Robbie. You must be Charlotte." I've got his autograph now. I used to have it up on my window sill, but it's in a box somewhere now.

Does it annoy you that a group like the Spice Girls are so successful - even though they're not great singers? Jason Kyle, Suffolk

No, although I'm not a huge fan of the Spice Girls. I admire them for their hard work and for what they've done, but I don't particularly like their music. I was given their Spice World CD for Christmas, which I quite like and was the in-thing to have at the time. It has some good fun songs on it, though.

What do your friends think of your success? Do people in your class ever get jealous of you? Jessica Morton, Hove, Brighton

My friends see me as the same old Charlotte they have always known. They also understand what I do, because they sometimes come with me. One of my best friends, Kim, came to London with me. I had to do five live interviews, but we went inline skating afterwards when we had some free time. Another friend, Amanda, came to Paris with me for two days. I would like to take Jo, another of my best friends, to New York one day. I've never been told that anyone at school is jealous of me - everyone's always been great.

What would be your ideal day? Jennifer Own, London SW15

I would get up early, at about 6am. Have a quick breakfast, and then take my whole class on a plane to New York. Just any old plane, not a Concorde or anything, just so long as we got there. Once we were there, we'd go shopping. Then we'd fly back home and I'd go bowling with Kim, Charlie, Jo, Charlotte, Sarah, Abi and Sophie. Then we'd go to the cinema, then maybe do a Des O'Connor special or do an interview with Michael Parkinson. Then everyone would sleep over at my house.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Ian Oliver, Cobham, Surrey

I want to be a singer, an actress, stuff that I'm doing already now. I'd like to be a good all-rounder. It would be great to be a respected singer and also to go into acting and entertainment as a whole.

When was the last time you were grounded by your parents? Rebecca Day, Oundle

I don't get grounded, but I am told off if I'm naughty or pulling a tantrum. I'll get sent to my room. I don't pull tantrums very often. I never have diva tantrums, only normal teenage tantrums.

What is your favourite item of clothing? Francis Marcuson, London W4

A pair of red combat trousers from H&M. They are made of stretchy material so they are really comfortable and brilliant for travelling.

What is your greatest achievement so far? Joanna Roberts, Daly, Suffolk

Meeting the Pope, President Clinton, the Queen, Prince Charles, Will Smith and performing at the Hollywood Bowl. Also appearing at the Rugby World Cup in Cardiff as it's my home town and was the biggest live audience I have ever sung in front of.

Favourite pop group? Susan Nicholas, Pilton, Rutland

My favourites tend to be solo artists like Lauryn Hill, Will Smith, Robbie Williams and Ricky Martin.

Do you get pocket money?

I get an allowance of about £50 a month which I spend on magazines, records, clothes and other stuff. A trust has been set up for me for any money I make from my music.
