Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The man behind 'The Football Factory' and 'The Business' also wrote and directed 'Outlaw', which is now available on DVD. Love, 42, is planning a film adaptation of the Seventies cop show 'The Sweeney'.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be ...

Digging vegetables, probably. I moved to Gloucester and it's been amazing. I had to learn to cook for myself. We inherited a great big vegetable garden with the house. It's full of asparagus. It's a joy. It's the polar opposite of what people imagine I do.

A phrase I use far too often ...

"Know what I mean?"

I wish people would take more notice of ...

The world: the fact that we didn't want to go to war. And of me: my gentle side.

A common misperception of me is...

I've got a reputation for doing a certain type of film: lads' movies that glamorise violence. The more my reputation as a bad boy grows, the more my life moves away from that.

The most surprising thing that has happened to me is that...

I'm happy. Two things revolutionised life: moving to the countryside and falling in love.

I am not a politician but if I were, I would change...

This sounds really hokey but I think Buddhism is the only religion that is genuinely peaceful so I'd try to promote it in a contemporary society.

I'm good at ...

Getting people interested.

I'm very bad at ...

Admitting defeat.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

I don't want to die with regrets. I like living and experiencing, and feeling the whole lot.
