'Celebrities believe their own press and think they can be rude to others'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...
Horse riding. I am training for a show jumping demonstration at the Horse of the Year Show. I won in Only Fools on Horsesso I feel I have to prove it was not a fluke.
A phrase I use far too often...
"Kina". It's Scottish slang. I am making a huge effort to stop using it.
I wish people would take more notice of...
Their manners. All too often people are rude to waiters. Celebrities are susceptible to thinking they can be rude to others. They can kina believe their own press.
I'm good at...
Committing to things. Whether it's studying, learning a skill or completing a challenge.
I'm very bad at...
Relaxing. I hate sitting around and doing nothing. Unless I'm totally active I feel totally idle.
The most surprising thing that happened to me was...
Getting a role in Ecstasy because I am not a trained actress. It's a big challenge. It might be a once-in-a-lifetime challenge!
A common misperception of me is...
Because I am blonde and I work in show-biz that I haven't got many more strings to my bow. I have a real interest in science and technology. I'd love to have worked on Tomorrow's World.
I am not a politician but...
I really am pro what the Scottish government is trying to do in providing and encouraging education up to the age of 18. People will have greater opportunities in life.
The ideal night out is...
Nowhere flash. As long as it's with friends and I'm having a good time.
The best age to be is...
The age you are. Thirty has been a pretty good year for me but I think I said that last year.
In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:
Every cloud has a silver lining.
