Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Joe Pasquale, 45, who was crowned "King of the Jungle" on television's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, has a DVD of his last tour, Return of the Love Monkey, out now

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...

Sleeping. I'm absolutely knackered. I've had a busy year.

A phrase I use far too often is...

"Oh, if I knew then what I know now."

I wish people would take more notice of...

Their mums because they're always right.

The most surprising thing to happen to me was...

I passed my pilot's licence this year. I was scared of flying until I did the jungle. I had to jump out of one on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! I thought - if I can jump out of one of these buggers, I can learn to fly one.

A common misperception of me is...

People think I used to be a policeman. They used to try to book me to do shows at police clubs.

I'm not a politician but...

I would like to sort out the NHS. It's not running too smoothly.

I'm good at...

Drawing.

But I'm very bad at...

Doing nothing. I'm bad at relaxing.

The ideal night out is...

Going to the pictures, then going for a steak.

The best age to be is...

Probably about 40 because you're a lot wiser, but still active enough to take chances in life.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:

Don't take life too seriously because nobody gets out of it alive.
