Your support makes all the difference. Those prematurely hoping for another royal wedding bank holiday weekend after Cressida Bonas made her first appearance at an official engagement with Prince Harry a month ago will be left sorely disappointed this morning.
The couple have split up, according to a royal source.
Their two-year relationship had apparently come under strain in recent weeks, as US media sources suggested that Bonas had become too dependent on the Prince and was “needy”.
However, the notion was strongly denied by sources close to the couple, who confirmed their separation to the Daily Mail last night and insisted it was “very much an amicable one”.
“It's very, very sad that they have decided to split. It's very amicable but they have decided to go their separate ways,” an unnamed insider was quoted as saying.
The source went on to elaborate that the 25-year-old performing arts student was keen to “focus on her career” after recently graduating from the Laban School of Dance. She is currently working for a marketing company in Soho, London.
“Cressida has decided she wants to focus on her career and Harry is really keen that she is allowed to get on with her life,” they continued.
“He is furious at this suggestion that the split was in any way because she was relying too much on him. Cressida is one of the most independent people he knows.”

A separate source later added: “Cressie is only 25 and pretty young for her age at that. Prince Harry will be 30 this year and is at a different stage in his life. He is incredibly fond of Cressie and understands that she wants to do something with her life and with her career before she considers settling down.
“It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if they got back together in a few months time.”
It is thought that Prince Harry will join his older brother Prince William on a trip to Tennessee this weekend, where they will reportedly be taking on the role of ushers at the wedding of their mutual friend Guy Pelly. Pelly was the brains behind Prince William’s stag do ahead of his nuptials to Kate Middleton three years ago.
Prince Harry and Bonas first met in the summer of 2012 after they were introduced by Princess Eugenie. The pair had been reluctant to make a show of their relationship, avoiding being pictured in public together until recently, when they were photographed watching the England rugby team play Wales at Twickenham in March.
Two days prior to that, they had attended their first official engagement together as a couple at a charity event at Wembley Arena.
Buckingham Palace are yet to confirm the reports.
