From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pharrell Williams answered a series of hard-hitting questions about his new project in a press conference full of children.
The singer has adapted one of his most popular songs, Happy, into a children’s book of the same name.
Williams thought he would be addressing a room full of journalists to talk about his new literary venture on Tuesday. Instead, he was met with a group of eager, plastic microphone-wielding British children, ready to ask the important questions.
The first question, "Please can I go to the toilet?”, set the tone for the press conference.
Other incisive questions included:
"Have you got any pets?”
“My Daddy always reads books on the toilet and my mum reads books on her bed. Would you read Happy on the toilet or the bed?”
“What is a happy helper?”
“When you go to McDonalds, do you order a happy meal?”
“My favourite thing in the word is chicken nuggets. What’s yours?”
“Do you still have that hat that you got when you went talking to the lady? The big one?”
