Pele is set to be discharged from Sao Paulo hospital today, after he was admitted with severe stomach pains.

The Brazilian football legend, 74, sparked concerns among his fans when he was forced to cancel a book signing at a museum named after him in his native city, Santos.

He was taken in for medical treatment on Wednesday evening after complaining about stomach cramps.

“He made some tests and will be discharged tomorrow. Everything is fine,” Jose Fornos Rodrigues, the former player's personal aide, told Reuters.

Fifa named him “Football Player of the Century”, while the International Olympic Committee bestowed him with the title “Athlete of the Century”.
