From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Back in February, one of the few memorable moments of the BRIT awards was Madonna getting yanked down a set of stairs by a dodgy cape.

And at last night’s BET awards, P Diddy paid his own homage to the Queen of Pop by tripping and falling into a hole while performing.

The rapper was there to honour the 20th anniversary of his label, Bad Boy Records, and was joined by roster artists including Lil’ Kim, Faith Evans and Pharrell Williams for a performance of "It’s All About The Benjamins".

He fell down a hole on the stage while strutting backwards, but managed to pull himself back out and continue like a true professional.

Later on, when presenting Smokey Robinson with a Lifetime Achievement Award, he stumbled his words and had to ask the teleprompter to rewind. He apologised and blamed his nerves.

At the end of the night Diddy uploaded the already-iconic clip of him falling over to his Instagam, with the inspiring caption ‘IF YOU EVER FALL DOWN, get your ass back up and FIGHT!!!!!!' which is solid advice we can all live by.
