Obituary: George Ross
Rear-Admiral George Ross, naval engineer, died 30 July, aged 92. Before the beginning of the Second World War, and with the help of Lord Mountbatten, he convinced the Admiralty to obtain the Swiss-made Oerlikon anti-aircraft gun - a weapon which was to prove invaluable to British naval forces. Between the wars he served in the Far East. Former Director of Aircraft Maintenance and Repair at the Admiralty.
