From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Noel Gallagher has said he always wanted a stalker when he first dreamed of being famous, and now he’s actually got one.

The singer was talking about the early days of Oasis on Talksport, and said he always dreamed of having needless luxuries like a chimpanzee, a top hat, and a mirrored rolls royce.

“And a couple of stalkers,” he said, before adding, “I do have a stalker now. She’s German, actually.”

When presenter Andy Goldstein pressed him for more information, he said she regularly broke into hotels he stayed at and would shout under the door for him to come out.

“I’m calling my security guard saying ‘Get this head-case out of here!’ and she’s like ‘I know you’re in there!’,” he said. “She’s not the most attractive woman."

In typical Talksport fashion - the station is no stranger to brazen views and controversial comments - Gallagher was asked if his stalker would be easier to endure if she were more attractive.

“No! It wouldn’t change anything!” he said, laughing it off.

Phew. That could have been a lot worse.
