The actor, director and sports fan embarked on an impassioned, expletive-filled rant over NFL player Tom Brady and ‘deflategate’ during an appearance on American television on Wednesday night.
Affleck passionately defended Brady, who plays for the Boston native’s beloved New England Patriots, after there ‘deflategate’ scandal that swamped the NFL.
Last year, the New England Patriots were accused of deflating balls ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts in January 2015.
Brady, the team’s quarterback, and the team denied any wrongdoing. Brady was handed a four-month suspension, which was lifted but then re-instated in April over the alleged incident.
Affleck was asked about ‘deflategate’ on Any Given Wednesday and held nothing back in revealing what he really thought of the scandal.
“Deflategate is the ultimate bullsh*t f*****g outrage of sports ever. It’s so f*****g stupid,” Affleck began.
The actor criticised the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell for suspending Brady throughout his five-minute speech and concluded by summarising the entire affair as “a f*****g ridiculous smear campaign”.

The actor was remarkably animated during the interview, and said the f-word an estimated 20 times.
The interview was a stark contrast to one he did in March discussing reviews of his recent film Batman v Superman, which sparked a viral #SadAffleck meme due to the sullen expression on the 43-year-old’s face.
