From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. When your name is Madonna and you're working 12-hour days trying to stop Beyonce and Rihanna from stealing your Queen of Pop crown, the importance of eating regularly is easily forgotten.
Or at least, that's what the 56-year-old singer has found while touring, and she's been wise enough to take steps to rectify the problem.
Madonna has reportedly hired an aide, dubbed the "food police", to remind her to take frequent meal breaks and give her nutrition advice ahead of her next string of Rebel Heart concerts in September.
The "Living For Love" star told Entertainment Weekly that non-stop rehearsing quickly takes its toll, which led to the decision.
"I call her the food police, 'Are you eating? Did you drink enough water?'" she joked. "I'm like, 'B**ch get off my pole'".
Madonna was forced to delay the start of the tour earlier this year after production took longer than expected.
"As my fans already know, the show has to be perfect," she said in a statement. "Assembling all the elements will require more time than we realised. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause my fans. I can promise you this show will be worth the wait."
Madonna will be praying to avoid another Brits-style tumble. She was performing at the annual music awards ceremony in London earlier this year when she fell backwards down some steps after suffering a wardrobe malfunction with a cape.
Madonna's representatives did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
