From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Rolling Stones frontman was in attendance at the Stade de France – in corporate hospitality of course – to watch the European Championship final between France and Portugal. The 72-year-old has already attended matches at Euro 2016 after watching the last-16 clash between Spain and Italy, and he was one of the lucky 81,000 that managed to gain entry to the Stade de France.
With a tense game unfolding and the disappointment of Ronaldo being forced off the pitch in one of the biggest games of his life, everyone in the stadium was left in a state of nerves in anticipation of the first goal – except Jagger.
As half-time struck, Jagger took the opportunity to upload a video to his Twitter account to reveal just how excited he was to be at the Euro 2016 final.
“Here we are at the final of the Euro Cup, it’s France-Portugal. Who’s going to win? Yeahhhhh” said Jagger, with his trademark jazz hands letting loose as the footage stopped.

The video provided one of the highlights of the tournament, with Jagger getting over 2,500 retweets inside 30 minutes of uploading the post.
