Mark Zuckerberg’s first attempt at a Facebook Live became somewhat awkward when Jerry Seinfeld dropped by and begun conducting an interview.

The Facebook CEO was watched by 7.4million viewers as he spoke about the future of the social network, selecting questions from users commenting on the video.

The hour-long broadcast was interrupted after 45 minutes when the stand-up comedian, who happened to be pondering around Facebook HQ at the time, was invited into the conversation by Zuckerberg.

Things got off to a slightly awkward start when Seinfeld joked: “I had no idea you would be here!”

“I’m supposed to say that,” said Zuckerberg, laughing. “Right, that’s why it’s funny when I say it,” Seinfeld replied.

The notoriously private CEO was asked at length about his morning routine by the comedian. Viewers found out the first thing the 32-year-old does when he wakes up is, unsurprisingly, checks Facebook.

However, Zuckerberg appeared more human when he admitted he’s taken his running hobby, which started with a pledge to run a mile a day – something Seinfeld dismissed as not a challenge but more of a ‘past time’, – to such extremes he’s now “got to that point where I can wake up in the morning and bang out a half marathon or a marathon if I want”.

Seinfeld also managed to get out of Zuckerberg that he had recently broken his arm during triathlon training, something which was not evident on video due to lack of a cast or sling. It turns out Seinfeld had already been warned by Facebook’s staff about the injury, explaining it’s a “big thing going on at the company today”.

“I’m not quite sure how to react to that,” Zuckerberg replied nervously.

Seinfeld then switched up the conversation once more asking the billionaire: “What do you want to know about me?” Zuckerberg stared blankly for a few seconds before uttering: “Yeah, so I mean, Seinfeld” before asking him what he has for breakfast.

The exchange was branded awkward by some, “painfully awkward” by one Facebook user, but others praised the surprise duo’s interview for being funny and interesting.

It also produced some endearing moments as Zuckerberg spoke about his daughter with wife Priscilla Chan, Max, who apparently can scream like a “pterodactyl”.

Zuckerberg himself seemed to enjoy it, telling the camera: “I’m gonna call this a successful Q&A”.
