Lily Allen has reassured fans she is “absolutely fine” and “just a lightweight” after pictures of her at Notting Hill carnival led to reports suggesting there were fears for her health.

The singer was seen celebrating in the bank holiday festivities in west London over the weekend. On Tuesday, The Sun’s front page showed Allen being carried over the shoulders of a male companion and claimed she had “dramatically collapsed” at the carnival.

The newspaper, which claimed that following the pictures there are "fresh fears" over her health, also released a video showing the “Not Fair” singer dancing and holding a can of drink before being assisted by friends.

Allen took matter into her own hands by sharing a screengrab of an email from the paper asking for comment, where she clarified: “Truth is I’m just a lightweight, I had two cans of Strongbow on an empty stomach. I’m here now and I’m absolutely fine.”

The 31-year-old then re-tweeted a series of supportive messages from followers and also joked that it may not have been her finest moment.

A representative for Allen said there was no further comment.
