Lil’ Kim has joined the ranks of celebrities with outrageously-named children by calling her baby Royal Reign.

The 39-year-old rapper gave birth to her daughter on Monday. She was reportedly a healthy 6 lbs, 5 oz and was 19.5 inches long.

Lil Kim's assistant, Noel Perez, confirmed the birth but gave no further details.

Her nickname “Queen Bee”, is thought to be the inspiration for her daughter’s unusual name.

Missy Elliott and Miley Cyrus were among those to congratulate her on Twitter.

The artist did not write about the birth but re-tweeted dozens of messages from well-wishers along with news stories.

Lil’ Kim announced her pregnancy performing at The Blonds Fashion Week event in New York in February.

After breaking up in 2012, the couple have since reconciled and attended a glitzy baby shower together last month.

Lil’ Kim, whose real name is Kim Jones, burst onto the hip hop scene performing with the Notorious B.I.G’s group the Junior M.A.F.I.A in 1995.

She has been drawn into several public feuds with female artists including Foxy Brown and Nicki Minaj.

In 2005, she was sentenced to a year in prison for three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy after a shooting outside a radio station in Manhattan.

Her most recent single was “Haterz”, released in April.
