Representatives for Lamar Odom have said the former NBA star is in their “thoughts and prayers’ after he was discovered unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel on Tuesday.

Police were called to the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, after Odom, 35, was found face down and unresponsive on Tuesday afternoon. The entertainment site TMZ said Odom was in a coma and “fighting for his life”.

His publicist Eve Sarkisyan told US Weekly: “Family and friends are extremely concerned for Lamar. Please don't listen to the false information being circulated unofficially. Please respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.”

Odom played 14 seasons in the NBA. He won two NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010, and played for the NBA for a final time in 2013 with the Clippers.

The 35-year-old also featured regularly on the reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians because of his four year wedding to Khloe Kardashian.

Odom married Kardashian a month after meeting her in 2009, in a ceremony that was televised for the E! network. Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013.

Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner flew to the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he is being treated.

The brothel’s owner Dennis Hof said Odom had taken herbal viagra and drank part of a bottle of Cognac during the four days he was there. He told NBC Odom was discovered by two women in his room.

A spokesperson for Excel Sports Management said: "Lamar Odom is a long-time member of the Excel family, and we are keeping him in our thoughts and prayers. We are staying close to the situation but have no additional information or comment at this time."
